For God and Country

Lately, there's been a lot of talk about God.  On Saturday, August 28th, 2010, there was a huge "Restoring Honor Rally" at the Lincoln Memorial about God. It was hosted by Glenn Beck. Speakers included Alveda King, Sarah Palin, and something called the Black Robe Regimen. What was largely perceived to be a political event ended up being something of a church revival. There were hymns. There were preachers. There was a lot of talk about God. Turning back to God. Respecting God. Getting on God's side.

So is anyone shocked when a liberal-controlled mainstream media has done their very best to downsize the impact of the spiritual, God-centered event? Estimates from Michele Bachmann are near the million mark. Estimates from media outlets like CBS and MSNBC range anywhere from 87,000 to 300,000.
Not to be critical or anything, but has anyone bothered to look at an aerial shot of the crowd? It was huge. There were more people there than for any Obama rally in days past. It may be that this is either the mere power of a popular man named Glenn Beck and his ability to bring people together. Or, it might be that a man named Glenn Beck is able to pull people together in times like these because of God.

At any rate, the media--and liberal people in general--are somewhat surprised that there was no anger or violence at the rally in D.C. I guess they're so used to their own ridiculous rallies they're a little bewildered when people assemble peaceably to talk about a subject as shocking as "God."

In retrospect, I believe that the Restoring Honor Rally in D.C. will long be remembered as the starting point of something wonderful and new in America. A spiritual revival. A patriotic revival. With the help of Glenn Beck, and more importantly, God, this country may be able to remember why we succeeded in creating this great nation in the first place: by God's good grace.

Below is one of the most even coverages of the Rally--not to say it's perfect:
